Who We Are
Schools Farm Africa is an educational NGO transforming how students engage with agriculture by making it part of the curriculum. We work with schools from primary to university level, teaching young people how to grow food, build agribusinesses, and care for the environment, giving them real-world skills they can use for life.
Our Purpose
To equip the next generation with the tools to see agriculture not just as a necessity, but as a solution. We aim to build a scalable model of student-led agriculture that can power economic independence, local food production, and climate resilience across Africa.
Meeting the Moment
Africa has the land, the people, and the climate to feed itself, and more. But every year, billions of dollars in food is imported while millions of young people are out of work.
We believe the answer is right under our feet.
Schools Farm Africa bridges the gap between education, agriculture, and enterprise. By training youth in modern, market-driven farming practices, we’re helping to:
Promote early childhood education in agriculture to foster a lifelong interest in farming
Strengthen local food systems through practical, school-based production
Tackle youth unemployment by creating pathways to agricultural entrepreneurship
Support the development of climate-resilient, self-sustaining communities
Our Approach
Started initially by Mastercard, we're proud to continue this initiative and expand its reach.
We work with schools across Africa to bring hands-on agricultural training directly to students. They plant crops, raise livestock, and learn how to sell what they grow, building practical skills through direct experience, mentorship, and peer-led competitions.
We provide everything a school needs to succeed:
-
Quality seeds and organic fertilizer
-
Access to expert agronomists and veterinary support
-
Tools, equipment, and farm infrastructure
-
Training in sales, marketing, and agribusiness planning
Learning that Grows with Students
Our approach evolves with each stage of learning:
Primary School
Introduction to farming through school gardens and eco-clubs.
Junior High
Learn intermediary farming practices through school gardens, eco-clubs, and on farm lands.
Senior High
Receive advanced training in sustainable agriculture, business, and climate resilience.
University
Focus on agritech innovation, research, and entrepreneurship incubation.

This work is already delivering results across Africa. Now we’re focused on expanding that impact even further.
