Planning for Growth at Western Deedew Rice Farm

 

Following an initial visit earlier in 2025, members of the 1993 PB Trade and Commodity team returned to Western Deedew Rice Farm for a more in-depth look at the farm, its operations, and the opportunities ahead.

Spending more time on site gave the team a better understanding of how the farm operates today, the people behind it, and where thoughtful investment could make the biggest difference. It was also an opportunity to continue building relationships, listen to those working the land every day, and discuss a shared vision for the farm’s future.

Western Deedew has significant potential for growth. The long-term goal is to help the farm increase production while introducing the infrastructure, equipment, and processing capabilities needed to support a more efficient and sustainable operation. As the project develops, improvements to storage, processing, and farming practices will also help strengthen the farm’s ability to serve growing markets and create new opportunities locally.

This visit marked another important step in that journey. The next phase will bring our engineering team to the farm to carry out detailed site assessments and begin planning the infrastructure needed to support future expansion.

There’s still a great deal of work ahead, but each visit helps build a clearer picture of what’s possible. We’re looking forward to sharing more as plans continue to take shape and the next chapter for Western Deedew begins.
